An Honest Review of the ComfyComfy Buckwheat Pillow

When seeking better sleep, one question often comes up: "What pillow is good?". The answer isn't as straightforward as you might like. The "best" pillow varies from person to person and depends on factors like sleeping position, bed sharing, existing injuries, and other specific needs (such as using a CPAP machine etc).
After testing A LOT of pillows (Dosaze, a lot of different memory foam ones, contour memory foam, foam cervical rolls, Amazon butterfly pillows, water pillows, etc), I discovered the ComfyComfy pillow. Its unique design and infill made me curious to explore its features because there were very few of this particular type and next to none that were CANADIAN.
What I like about the ComfyComfy Pillow
Variety of Options
ComfyComfy stands out for offering a range of pillows. Many brands provide different sizes and levels of firmness, but ComfyComfy gives you other pillow types to meet specific sleep needs. For example, they have pillows for side sleepers, back sleepers, and combo sleepers all with different sizes. This ensures you can select a pillow that perfectly aligns with your individual sleeping style.
Versatility of Using ONE Pillow for Different Sleeping Positions
This part was a top priority in my search. Personally, I often switch between sleeping on my back and on my side. The ComfyComfy pillow's versatility is a game-changer. Stuffed with buckwheat hulls, it allows for easy adjustment in height and shape. When I sleep on my side, I can shift the hulls to create a higher profile for proper spinal alignment (no crunching of the neck or shoulder). Alternatively, when I’m on my back, I simply spread the hulls out to create a cradle that supports my head and neck. Issues that I have seen when testing other pillows is that it does well in one sleeping position, but not in another.

Consistent Neck Support
One of the most significant benefits of the ComfyComfy pillow is its ability to retain shape throughout the night. Unlike foam pillows that can flatten over time, the buckwheat hulls provide stable neck support the entire time. However, I have only owned this pillow for 6 months and will revisit if it changes.
What I Don't Like About It
Different Feel Compared to Memory Foam
While the ComfyComfy pillow has many strong points, it feels distinctly different from your traditional memory foam pillows. If you’re used to the soft, conforming sensation of memory foam or feather, you may find the firmer texture of the buckwheat hulls less plush and hard. It’s important to manage expectations—this pillow won’t give you that.
My Personal Experience with ComfyComfy Pillows
I tested three ComfyComfy pillow models:
ComfySleep - The Original Organic Buckwheat Hull Pillow (Traditional size)
ComfyNeck Side Sleeper + Pillowcase
Contour Buckwheat Pillow

I've truly loved all three. I keep the original pillow in my kid's room for the nights that I sleep beside them. It is a bit smaller and thinner than the contour pillow which makes it perfect if the kids actually sleep on it as well (they do actually offer a toddler pillow too). I didn't think it would have been thick enough, but to my surprise, I have had comfortable sleeps because I can just squish the hulls together to make it higher when I'm on my side. It's also a good option to travel with because of it's smaller size.
The contour pillow is my top choice but I've removed some hulls because it was initially too firm and too high for my profile.
Then, I gave the side sleeper pillow to my dad who suffers from neck and shoulder pain who usually loves cervical roll pillows but his has now become too soft (previously used an Align Right cervical pillow). Hopefully this one lasts longer! I have personally used a cervical roll pillow for numerous years and have loved this shape the most. The buckwheat fill and shape of this pillow might take some getting used to if you're coming from a traditional rectangular foam/feather pillow.
